The journey begins with a scenic drive through Uganda’s countryside and a special stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, where you will track white rhinos on foot in their natural habitat. This experience completes the African Big Five list before continuing to the heart of Murchison Falls National Park.
Inside the park, sweeping savannah plains, riverine forests, and open grasslands host lions, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, leopards, and countless antelope species. Carefully guided game drives reveal the park’s rich wildlife, while the peaceful landscapes offer unforgettable photographic moments.
A highlight of the safari is the boat cruise along the Victoria Nile, where hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and colorful birdlife gather along the riverbanks. Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by the Kili WorldBorn Safaris team and transferred to your carefully selected hotel in Kampala. Our representative will ensure a smooth and comfortable journey, allowing you to relax after your flight and settle in as you begin your adventure.
At the hotel, you will meet your professional safari guide, who will provide a detailed briefing about your upcoming safari. You will receive all essential information regarding your itinerary, destinations, accommodation, and daily schedules, as well as useful travel tips. This session is designed to ensure you feel fully prepared, confident, and excited for the unforgettable journey ahead.
You will have an early breakfast and start your Murchison Falls safari (Africa ‘Big 5’ Tour) with a drive to Murchison Falls National Park passing through beautiful woodlands and Savannah grasslands.
Before you get to Murchison Falls where you’ll have your dinner, we’ll stop over at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary the track, and view the first of the Big 5 game, the White Rhinos. Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary takes care of some of the last remaining endangered Rhinos in the world. This part of the Murchison Falls Safari (Africa ‘Big 5’ Tour) is one that will give you the first chills.
This journey to Murchison falls from Kampala takes 6-7 hours with stopovers at interesting tourist attractions en route including Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.
You will wake up very early and set off at 6.30 am for a sunrise game drive in the Nyamsika plateau to see the Cape buffaloes, Rothschild’s giraffes, Uganda kob, hartebeest, and waterbucks. You may also spot oribi, bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, shy sitatunga, bush duiker, warthog, and bush pig plus large carnivores including lions, leopards, and spotted hyenas. Chimpanzees and olive baboons head the list of six species of primates found in the park. Crocodiles and hippos will be seen along the banks of the Nile. Some of the more common birds that can be seen include goliath heron, Egyptian geese, pelican, bee-eaters, kingfishers, hornbills, cormorants, saddle-bill storks, and the rare shoebill stork.
You will return to your lodge for a late breakfast and some relaxation before setting off in the afternoon for a boat cruise on the placid Victoria Nile, upstream, to the base of the falls. En route, you will see hippos, crocodiles, waterbuck, and a wide variety of birds including the unusual shoebill stork. The boat stops just tens of meters from the “Devil’s Cauldron” for pictures to be taken of the photogenic and majestic Murchison Falls. You will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
We drive to the “top of the thunderous Murchison falls”, where you will enjoy the spectacular view before proceeding to Kampala, arriving in the late afternoon. No accommodation are provided.
