Queen Elizabeth National Park
Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s most diverse and scenic safari destination, located between Lake Edward and Lake George in the western part of the country. Framed by the Rwenzori Mountains and vast savannah plains, the park blends lakes, forests, wetlands, and open grasslands into one breathtaking landscape. Its unique ecosystems support an incredible range of wildlife and birdlife, making every game drive and boat cruise deeply rewarding. The park is famous for its rare tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha sector, large herds of elephants, buffaloes, hippos, and leopards, as well as over 600 bird species. From open savannahs to crater lakes and river channels, the scenery changes beautifully throughout the park, creating endless opportunities for photography and exploration. Top highlights include the Kazinga Channel boat safari, where wildlife gathers along the shores, the Ishasha fig trees where lions rest, and the crater lake viewpoints offering sweeping views of the Rift Valley. Together, these natural wonders make Queen Elizabeth one of East Africa’s most unforgettable parks.
